The Main leader of the Mongols at the time when they conquered China was Kublai Khan. He was the grandson of the infamous Mongol leader, Genghis Khan. Through the rule of Kublai Khan, he expanded the empire into China and was crowned emperor. While He was emperor he moved the capital of China to Beijing and extended the grand canal to Beijing as well to provide trade and transport to areas in China.
The Mongols had a big problem, they did not know how to run a government and so they decided to let the Chinese help, but they did not allow them into higher government because they still wanted to show their power.
The Yuan Dynasty were a great trading empire and traded many items including silk, porcelain, gunpowder, playing cards and currency. They also traded with great empire in areas like central asia, india, and southeast asia.
Kublai Khan had a grand army which he used for conquering many areas, but some of these attacks failed. The Yuan Dynasty tried to attack southeast asia and japan twice but failed both times because either the enemy’s army is too large or they were obliterated by natural disasters. Kublai Khan spent so much tax money on the army and conquering that the people ended up revolting and Kublai Khan was killed.
